Hello, world! This is the first post on Retail in Future Blog and my first post here, also. So, I thinking about what will be the most interesting topic for opening this blog. Finally, I chose the topic. Events about hi-tech in the retail industry!

Believe it or not, it’s very complicated to find an event which is specialized in hi-tech in the retail industry. Most of those events cover the various segment of technology for different industries. The situation is a little better in the USA and Asia but in Europe, the list of this is events is pretty short.

Let we start in chronological order:

  • Integrated Systems Events produces B2B exhibitions and conferences for the professional audiovisual, electronic systems integration, and IT industries. The flagship event is Integrated Systems Europe, often referred to as ISE, which is the largest AV systems integration show in the world. The annual four-day event, which takes place every February, is organized and run by Integrated Systems Events. Integrated Systems Events is a joint venture between AVIXA and CEDIA – the two leading industry associations for the global audiovisual industry. Since the first Integrated Systems Europe in 2004, this event settled down in Amsterdam, NL. This is a great place to see a rich offer of digital signage, the latest achievements from the AV world regarding marketing in the retail industry. I visited this event in the last two years and I was very satisfied with the variety of very, very interesting digital signing technology.   • EuroCIS is the leading trade fair for technologies in retail across Europe and is held once a year in Dusseldorf, Germany. The visitors include retailers from all industries, wholesalers, system and theme restaurateurs, mail order and online merchants as well as professionals from the IT, security, and consumer goods industries as well as banks and financial service providers. For all the customer’s security, secure payment systems, control, and detection systems are becoming increasingly important. At EuroCIS they will be shown the newest, most innovative, and most current technologies in the areas of e-commerce, e-business, payment, inventory management, POS, pricing, personnel management, retail security, weighing, monitoring, and supplier management. Also, the intensive, professional exchange of information and best practices at the highest standard is in the foreground, thus ensuring a competent coexistence of exhibitors and visitors. Trends and developments, technical contributions, and knowledge sharing, as well as discussions on the key issues of the international trade world, are offered in top-class presentations and informative forums guaranteeing the success of EuroCIS. Every 3 years, in the same location, in the same period, EuroCIS is changed with EuroSHOP. EuroShop is a five-day exhibition of the trade industry for shopfitting, store equipment, store design, and merchandising. It is the world’s leading trade fair for retail investments, a trend barometer, and an innovation platform and offers an international program with attractive and practical conferences and seminars. The core target group of EuroShop includes specialists from all areas of trade and its partners as well as architects, graphic designers, trade show managers, and marketing experts.   • The Retail Expo, formerly RBTE – Retail Business Technology Expo is one of the largest and most important trade shows for retailers in Europe. Numerous exhibitors will display products and solutions here, which are specially adapted to the needs of retailers. In addition to the exhibition a comprehensive social program will be held, where visitors can attend seminars and lectures by leading experts. Also, the fair offers many opportunities for networking with clients and colleagues. RetailEXPO is Europe’s leading three-day event for retail technology and digital innovation, inspired by a vision to re-energize retail hosted every May in London. Personally, I visit all exhibitions from the list above. It’s very interesting and very professional events because they combine exhibitions and conferences. Good place for networking, too. ISE is a very large event with such many exhibitors & visitors focused on audio/video technology. Digital signing has a central place in this event. EuroCIS and EuroSHOP are really the best of this kind of event. These exhibitions are more focused on widespread technology used in the retail industry (POS solutions, e-commerce, digital marketing, etc.). Many famous companies come to this event. One more nice possibility is “shop finder” who guides you through shops in Dusseldorf and Cologne where you can find implemented new technologies presented on EuroCIS/EuroSHOP. RetailEXPO is also very famous, but not so big event. This event gathers retailers mostly from Great Britain and presents hi-tech trends from the island and from the USA. This event is very good organized from a marketing point of view.
